Inside Vet Expo Sydney 2024: Highlights, Insights, and Innovation with VetlinkPRO
Last week, the VetlinkPRO team, represented by Sophie, Josh, and David, made a bold impression at Vet Expo Sydney, Australia’s largest gathering for veterinary professionals. Positioned strategically right at the expo entrance beside EzyVet, the stand was hard to miss—thanks to the eye-catching artwork (a big thanks to Chi Zhang!) and an endless supply of Whittaker’s chocolate that quickly became a favourite among attendees. It was the perfect setup to showcase VetlinkPRO’s innovative solutions and introduce VetlinkPAY to the veterinary community.
Day One – Presenting on the Future of Payments
The event kicked off with Sophie presenting on the Future of Payments. In a unique twist, both Sophie and the audience wore headphones, which created an intimate, focused atmosphere—though the bright lights reflecting off her glasses were a slight challenge! It was Sophie’s first time presenting in a while and the talk generated plenty of interest. Many attendees later visited the VetlinkPRO stand to dive deeper into the company’s offerings, especially VetlinkPAY, which simplifies payment processes for veterinary practices.
The VetlinkPRO team was joined by Nelson from TIL and VostroPay, adding valuable support as the day grew busier. That evening, the team attended a networking event hosted by Evoke Projects. Evoke’s end-to-end project management for veterinary practice builds aligns well with VetlinkPRO’s offerings, creating potential synergy between the two.
Building Excitement Around VetlinkPAY and Version 7
Throughout the expo, several existing VetlinkPRO customers stopped by to explore the capabilities of VetlinkPAY and preview the new Version 7 upgrade. Tablelands Veterinary Service was especially excited about VetlinkPAY, while other familiar faces, like Salamander Bay Veterinary Centre and Lucas Van Oijen, were eager to implement Version 7’s updated features.
Reflecting on the event, Sophie shared a few insights that could shape VetlinkPRO’s approach at future expos:
- Presentation Setup – When headphones are involved, opting for a microphone over a fixed mic is a must for ease of movement.
- Booth Placement – While the entrance location was advantageous, the heart of the exhibition floor saw more consistent traffic. Central booth positioning may be something to consider for future events.
- Footwear Choices – Comfort is key! Sophie’s choice of high heels on Day One turned out to be less than ideal.
Industry Trends and the Value of Independence
Throughout Vetexpo, Sophie and the team noticed a recurring theme. Many practices expressed an appreciation for VetlinkPRO’s independent status, as it allows for greater data autonomy—an increasingly valuable quality in the current market.
Wrapping Up with a Tour of Darling Harbour
To close out their time in Sydney, the team walked around Darling Harbour. With King Charles in town, they couldn’t access the Opera House, but they still enjoyed the sights. There was also a bit of unexpected entertainment on Day One that kept the team laughing—though unfortunately, there’s no video to share here.
Overall, Vet Expo Sydney was a memorable and productive experience for VetlinkPRO. The team left feeling inspired by the strong relationships built and reinvigorated in their mission to empower veterinary practices with innovative, independent solutions.
