PRE- ANAESTHETIC BLOOD TESTING
The wellbeing of your pet is our primary concern. We perform a full physical examination before putting your pet under anaesthesia, but there can be potential risks even for a young healthy animal. Age, pre-existing medical conditions such as disorders of the liver or kidneys can increase the risk of complications. These conditions often cannot be detected without a blood test. For this reason we strongly recommend blood screening prior to any general anaesthesia.
 By blood testing we can evaluate your pet’s liver and kidney function, this will allow us to select the best combination of drugs and fluid therapy, ultimately reducing the risk of complications for your pet.

I understand that some risks always exist with anaesthetic and/or surgery, and I have had full opportunity to discuss any concerns I have about these risks with the attending veterinarians before these procedures. I accept that despite all procedures being performed at the highest level of professional care and skill, factors inherent in the process mean that no absolute guarantees can be made regarding the results that may be achieved.
If I am unable to be contacted on the above phone number I give permission for further treatment to my pet if required in an emergency.
